MUSEUMS

The Canadian Museum of Civilization presents Profit and Ambition: The Canadian Fur Trade, 1779-1821 until Sept. 2010 in the Special Exhibitions Gallery E. In the late 18th century, the Montréal-based North West Company embarked on a journey that would link, for the first time, the future country of Canada from sea to sea to sea. Aboard their fragile birchbark canoes, fearless young men pushed trade boundaries to barter for furs with First Peoples in Canada's North and West.

The Canadian War Museum opens June 4 a six-month-long exhibition called Camouflage, exploring the evolution of camouflage from its original military purposes to contemporary high fashion. Come and see how this military-inspired look has become part of the fashion culture of today.
