EMC Events - This Saturday (Feb. 6) promises to be plenty of fun for Kanata residents and visitors with two winter carnivals taking place. The Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club has daytime and nighttime events planned to liven up the winter and Trinity Presbyterian Church is offering an afternoon of fun for a good cause.

TRINITY CARNIVAL

The Trinity Winter Carnival is taking place at 110 McCurdy Dr. from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and is donating 50 per cent of the proceeds to Haiti Earthquake Relief. Organizers are also asking for a non-perishable food donation to "fill the igloo." Donations will go to the Kanata Food Cupboard.

"This will be our fourth annual fundraising fun day," said one of the organizers Adam Janes.

The Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club Winter Carnival daytime events take place at the Lion Dick Brule Community Centre (170 Castlefrank Rd., south of Hazeldean Road).

The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with pancake breakfast and runs until 11:30 a.m. Breakfast costs $3 per child and $4 per adult.

From 10 a.m. until noon horse-drawn sleigh rides will be taking place in the soccer fields with Little Ray's Reptiles providing entertainment from 1 until 2 p.m. After the reptile show, visitors can take part in an afternoon filled with crafts between 2 and 3 p.m.
