Coyote contest sponsored by West Carleton business
Posted Feb 8, 2010 By Theresa FritzWith Ottawa’s coyote problem garnering increasing public and media attention, one West Carleton business is offering its solution to helping reduce the population. Al’s Corner Store, located at the corner of Galetta Side Road and old Highway 17, is sponsoring ‘Al’s Coyote Contest’ until March 31.
Participants in the event can bring in coyotes they have harvested to the store where they will be weighed and information recorded. At that time, a participant will receive ticket that will be entered in a draw for prizes.
First prize is a Remington gun, second prize is a Baikal singe shot 223, third prize is a taxidermy mount by renowned and award winning taxidermist Rob Reinert.
There will also draw prizes including spy point cameras, summit tree stand, ammunition, dead coyote choke tube, clothing and much more. All prizes are being put up by local merchants
“Everything is legal. To enter you must be a licensed hunter or trapper,” store owner Al Mills stated, adding he and Mark Murphy came up with the idea to promote something that takes place in the area anyway.
