Police activity up in West Carleton-March recently
Posted Jun 24, 2010 By Eli El-ChantiryEMC News - You may have noticed a strong police presence in some high speed areas lately. This is partially due to a number of complaints that have been received regarding dangerous and/or speeding drivers. Police will continue to blitz high-need areas to ensure the safety of all residents. With summer here and the end of the school year fast approaching, please use common sense and drive safe.
To that end, I have met with key staff at the Ottawa Police Service to discuss the need for organized blitzes throughout the summer during peak times, in some key geographical areas.
I have also met with City of Ottawa Bylaw Services to discuss Constance Bay resident concerns regarding parking. Bylaw will be on alert for parking infractions in identified problem areas, and they have also made some notable changes to designated and permitted zones. If you plan to park, make sure that you are in an appropriate place to do so, or be prepared to face the unpleasant consequences.
If you have any concerns regarding illegal behaviour (open alcohol, underage drinking, drug use, etc), please call Ottawa Police Service at 613-236-1222. If you have concerns about unsafe/illegal parking of vehicles, please call City By-Law Services at 3-1-1. There will be zero tolerance for offenders of illegal activity.
CANADA DAY SCHEDULE CHANGES
Please consider this a reminder of the usual schedule changes taking place Thursday, July 1. City Hall and all Client Service Centres are closed, however the City's 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters requiring the City's immediate attention. Please call 3-1-1 to speak to a customer service representative.
OC Transpo will operate a Sunday schedule on Canada Day with extra service added during the day and after the fireworks, and free service after 10 p.m. Some pools, arenas and fitness centres will be open on Canada Day. Please check with ottawa.ca or the facility of your choice for details. Most registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Canada Day, however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.
All branches of the Ottawa Public Library are closed Canada Day.
Hope to see you at one of the West Carleton events celebrating Canada Day! I will be making the rounds, visiting Dunrobin, Corkery, and Constance Bay celebrations.
