Councillor sets up electronic newsletter
Posted Jan 26, 2012 By Theresa FritzEMC News -No one could ever accuse Eli El-Chantiry of not trying to get city and ward information out to his constituents.
The West Carleton-March councillor has a website, Facebook page, Twitter account and a column in the West Carleton Review EMC.
And now he has started an electronic newsletter available to anyone willing to sign up. One you sign up for it, you will receive the newsletter via email during the third week of every month.
From time to time, subscribers may receive additional emails but this would be for a ward-related issue that is urgent or time sensitive.
"I thought we would be able to reach out to the folks who just get email," El-Chantiry said of his new newsletter. "We don't force it on folks, it is a voluntary sign up."
El-Chantiry, who has never done a newsletter previously, said it really is about providing as much information as possible to his constituents.
While he champions Twitter for its immediacy and the ability to provide quick information on such things are road closures, traffic, etc., he understands that not everyone is into that form of social media.
"Over 90 per cent of my (ward) residents commute. So, being able to give them up to date information quickly is important," stressed El-Chantiry.
