Huntley principal wins outstanding principal award, Cindy Beauchamp one of 40 teachers honoured in Canada

EMC News - One West Carleton school principal is being honored for going above and beyond the call of duty in the name of education.

Huntley Centennial Public School principal Cindy Beauchamp is one of 40 principals Canada-wide who will receive Canada's Outstanding Principals Award 2012.

Beauchamp, currently in her fourth year as Huntley's principal, is being honoured for her commitment to life-long learning, her instructional leadership, her thirst for knowledge, and her desire to improve educational best practices. The school currently has a study body of 627.
She was nominated by her staff, her parents, and the greater community.
"She is very, very deserving of this recognition," Huntley vice-principal Diana MacFarlane told the West Carleton Review EMC.
"Cindy is a huge advocate for developing leaders among her team...Cindy genuinely gets exited about the synergy of collective problem solving when it improves student success and impacts positive change."
According to a news release issued by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), Beauchamp believes in and actively encourages parental and community involvement. She is well known for stating "no half measures" and does nothing half way. "Principal Beauchamp approaches every opportunity to connect with individuals as a possible learning or teaching moment," the news release states. /
Beauchamp was away at a conference for several days when the award was announced and could not be reached form comment prior to press deadline.
The Canada's Outstanding Principals program, which was developed by The Learning Partnership, is now in its eight year. This year's winners will join a specialized group of more than 219 previous recipients of this honour who make up the National Academy of Canada's Outstanding Principals.
"We are proud to celebrate the achievements of these extraordinary principals. Their dedication to enhancing our public education system clearly demonstrates the importance of strong leadership in education.
"They will have the opportunity to further their knowledge and leadership capabilities through the five-day executive leadership program, which is part of the Canada's Outstanding Principals program," says Veronica Lacey, president and CEO of The Learning Partnership in the OCDSB release.
Canada's Outstanding Principals program utilizes the expertise of professors from the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management and community leaders to provide a week-long leadership training program. /
